As I’ve mentioned in prior posts, I have never been particularly handy with tools or doing anything that requires the use of tools. It comes from being raised by a single mom whose main tool was a butter knife. That is why I am particularly proud of the way our house is coming together.

I mean, this stuff isn’t rocket science. I do have an Ivy League education, after all, and while I don’t recall studying “The art of laying a wood laminate floor” at Columbia, I’m sure it was probably mentioned when we studied the Parthenon.

Not to brag or anything, but here’s a short list of things I’ve accomplished recently…

1) Laid aforementioned wood laminate floor (used jigsaw extensively and was able to rent a cordless pneumatic nail gun - cool!)

2) Painted entire downstairs three different colors.

3) Put together multiple items from IKEA (Hey, it’s harder than it looks)

4) Caulked the shower and sinks

Here are my next projects…

1) Finish painting baby’s room and install chair rail. Green on the bottom, lavender on the top. I get to use my Ryobi Airgrip Laser Level on this project.

2) Install paver patio in back yard. We will need a jack hammer to break up old concrete step.

3) Finish installing landscaping (palm tree, plants, etc.)

4) Dig and install drainage ditch up front to protect us from these terrible San Diego winters.
