The family was on a trip for the first time this weekend. We stayed the first night at a hotel by ourselves. The second night, my mother was to join us.
Our conversation the first night…
Me: Hey, maybe we can get my mom to babysit tomorrow night.
Wife: Ooh yeah, that would be nice.
Me: Yeah, maybe we can get a drink at the bar downstairs.
Wife: Oh. I was thinking we could take a nap.

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm sleep, what’s that again??
It’s a bit sad when sleep is number one over sex, drinks AND Chocolate

We had the exact same conversation about two months ago.

I sympathize with both of you.

Although it’s what I’ve desperately wanted to do on many occasions, I’ve always felt far too guilty to call a babysitter in just to sleep! Baby-free time is too precious to waste sleeping (or even cleaning).

ahh, the joys of sleep deprivation. I have to say it’s one thing I definitely don’t miss from my kid’s baby- and toddler-hood, and a big part of our decision that we definitely don’t want any more kids…

Tough call on the either/or. Frankly, I’d opt for the beer, then the nap. Either way, you’re sans MIL, which is nice.
