An Ode To A Bouncy Seat
To some you’re just a chair
but to me there is no doubt
You are the single baby item
that we couldn’t do without
You sit there in the corner
Ever ready when there’s a need
You even lend a hand
When it comes time to feed
The gentle way you bounce
helps put the babes to sleep
But the humming that you make
Makes that sleep become so deep
You’re so tough under pressure
you’ve weathered every puke, poop and pee
I wish that we could use you
from now to eternity
But, alas, one day you’ll be too small
As the babies continue to grow
Just know I will always be your fan
Long after we let you go

We love ours too; it’s managed to handle 2 babies without croaking. But… our newest kid is a huge boy, and he’s outgrowing it rather early. I wish I knew where I could find a larger one

You’re turning into quite the blogging poet, Matthew! Love it. May I suggest that your next poem be in the meter of dactylic pentameter? I know how you always love a challenge. Besides, it should keep you busy.

Did you know they make bouncy seats that turn into rocking chairs for older children? My sister has one and when she’s not using it for her baby, her 2 and a half year old or my 3 year old use it for rocking. It’s a much bigger seat too, so babies can use them longer as bouncy seats. It has the vibration and music buttons on it.

I’m sure that Nutmeg would LOVE the full-time use of a personal kitty massage chair, once the kids have finally outgrown them.

I don’t have any babies, but all my friends and family do and even I know that that thing is amazing. I call it baby crack. They’re addicted. Once they’re in it, it’s like a jumkie getting his fix. Amazing creation.

Ah yes, the magic of the bouncy seat. How I miss it. I wonder if they’d make something like this for four-year-olds…besides the TV.

we LOVED our bouncy seat. My son actually wore it out…It fell apart. We were all very sad the day it went in the trash. my son is now 19 months old and his new cousin has a bouncy seat. He helps bounce him (with us holding the baby in place) and when the baby isnt in it, my son bounces away! I think the bouncy seat is a necessity to every parent. They are great!
Nice poem by the way.

I clearly have defective children. Neither of them liked the bouncy seat. AT ALL.
I got jipped.

OK, we found one of the ones Julie mentions, a bigger one that turns into a small rocking chair later. It definitely is mucho larger, good for our boy for a year or so we hope.
