Random Thoughts

Driving 101:

If you are in Stop-and-Go traffic on a very busy highway, please be aware that the “STOP” in “Stop-and-Go” is VERY important.

Also, if you are carrying a ladder on your truck, it’s probably a good idea to make sure the ladder is, oh, I don’t know… secured in some way? In fact, I’m pretty sure they make things that do just that. If that’s too much trouble, then an old tube sock or even a shoelace might be better than just hoping the damn thing doesn’t come flying off causing all of us not-yet-fully-caffeinated drivers behind you to swerve all over the damn road.

The coffee bean’s a vegetable, right?

If your spouse has you on a strict budget and in that budget there isn’t quite the amount of money set aside for a daily tasty Starbucks beverage, can I count it as a grocery item if I purchase my coffee at the little stand in the grocery store? I mean, it’s right next to the produce section.

Blog Superstar

I have a cousin who is pretty darn good at this blogging thing. She also happens to be pretty good friends with the Mother of all bloggers, dooce. So, it’s really weird to take my daily visit to dooce and see my beautiful cousin smilin’ back. (By the way, Maggie is one of my top-five favorite people of all time - way ahead of Rachel Ray)

Bloggers Are So Frickin’ Generous

I have had three people donate to my YMCA that I met through the blogging community in the past day. I am amazed and humbled. Thank you. (and, you know, it’s not too late for you too…) :)

  1. I think as a parent of twins you should receive Starbucks daily as part of a government program. Your cousin is adorable!

  2. Stopping is good a thing, coffee bean IS a vegetable ancient Mayans, Aztecs and Incans all drank coffee and chocolate too. Mighty Girl is my favorite metrosexual and I am her favorite Auntie.

  3. My mother ran over a ladder on one of the many bridges in Charleston, SC in my dad’s brand new car (he was out to see in the Navy @ the time) We got a couple flat tires and one pissed off mom from that. I will always pass someone who has a ladder on their vehicle if I can.

Coffee is it’s own food group, I don’t care what anyone says contrary to that. We have Caribou Coffee up where we live and it’s become addictive. Bad bad thing.

  4. Yes, coffee is a vegetable. And just in case you were wondering, Ben & Jerry’s ice cream is a healthy food item as well, I think it counts as a Dairy portion or two, since they don’t use pesticides. You are lucky it was only a ladder. Last week I had to avoid a couch and a big screen TV in the box. My friend tried to get me to stop and pick up the TV, but I wasn’t sure it would still work. They were just sitting there in the middle of the 405. The couch looked pretty new. Whoever dropped them must have been pissed when they got to where they were going.

  5. Yeah, I have my hubby on a strict budget and gave him a talking to for going up to the coffee shop too often. No starbucks in that little town, but the locally owned Coffee Bean makes great mochas, very tempting to him.

  6. I live in the land of coffee (Seattle area), so there is a Starbucks around every corner. And Tully’s, and Seattle’s Best Coffee, and independent drive-thru stands… you get the idea. And sadly, I am not a coffee drinker. I like frappucinos, but I usually only get one every few weeks or so. Especially during the winter. My husband is the coffee drinker, but will drink regular old brewed-at-home drip just as happily as a latte.

  7. Um, have you read my latest post? I need you to send back that Starbucks card I sent you. Pronto.

Oh, and I didn’t realize you were related to the famous!

  8. When I went back to work when my twins were five weeks old (that’s right, my EVIL DOCTOR released me to go back at FIVE WEEKS) I had to stop in at Starbucks every morning for a TRIPLE latte.
And send someone out to get me a refill 2-3 times a day.
Starbucks is requisite on any twin parents budget.
Cut out something else if necessary, like toilet paper.
    But KEEP THE STARBUCKS!

  9. Matthew-
I know I already posted on this, but I thought I would tell you I started my own blog. I listed you under cool people. Is that OK?
