It’s bugging me
Proof that this parenting thing is starting to affect my way of thinking:
I killed an ant today as it crawled across the table where I was eating. I immediately wondered if that ant had a wife and kid back home – waiting for it to bring home dinner.
It still kinda worries me.

I think that way too. It’s sweet that you wrote about it.

I don’t think that way about ants (I hate insects, except for ladybugs, and then I worry about their houses being on fire), but I have the same thoughts sometimes about other animals, like roadkill. I know, disturbing, right?

*patiently waiting for pet ant to return home*

Maybe the ant was a raging, abusive alcoholic and had a huge life insurance policy. Now the mama ant is driving a Volvo SUV, isn’t worried anymore if “daddy’s coming home tonight” and having the kid ants’ birthday party at Disneyland this year.
It was all for the kids. You did good.

Actually it probably had 12 wifes and 8,000 children. And now they will have to hold a bitty ant funeral. Sorry.
