Holy Cow, I’m how old?

Today I woke up to a stomach bug that kept me home from work. The fact that it happened to coincide with my 35th birthday is merely coincidence (really, no tall tales here).

So, I spent my 35th birthday sleeping and staying close to the bathroom.

I had thought of writing a tribute to my 35th year but I no longer have the energy but, suffice to say, it would have been a beaut.

I will say this… Once upon a time I thought 35 sounded old. I had teachers who I’m sure were younger than I am now who seemed like they’d been around for a while. Little did I know that I’m just getting to the good stuff.

I have a beautiful wife, a beautiful home and two extremely beautiful children.

Life just doesn’t get any better than this.

  1. Happy Birthday Matthew! Hope you feel better soon. By the way, my great aunt (who passed away 2 weeks shy of 100) used to always say “You ain’t old until you hit 100″ Guess she was young to the end.

  2. Happy Birthday, Matthew! I hope the stomach bug passes quickly (and that the twins don’t come down with it).

  5. Happy birthday to one of my favorite bloggers and truly one of the nicest guys around! I always admire a man who truly appreciates all that he has in life and is thankful for the good tidings that come his way. Hope you’re feeling better, Matthew! Have a great birthday week!

  8. Happy Belated Birthday! I’m sorry you were under the weather for your 35th, but it’s so nice that you can still see all the beauty in your life even when you’re feeling lousy on your birthday.

  13. Happy Birthday! I applaud your optimism. I’ve got 2 years on you. Had a tough time on my 37th birthday. I don’t mind the grey hairs on my head but I spotted a couple of grey chest hairs and that was rather depressing.

  15. Sorry I’m a bit late but happy 35th birthday! (And since I’m still only 28, I can pretend 35 is still “old.” hehe)

  16. Happy Birthday, Matthew! 35 is a great age…enjoy it! Once you crawl off the bathroom floor, of course…

  17. Happy Birthday – but I don’t need to tell you that, because you’re clearly very happy. Only a truly happy person could point out all the great things about life while they have a stomach bug!

  18. Happy birthday, sorry to hear you weren’t feeling well :(

Being over 35 myself, I don’t quite get the fuss about getting older. I think each year gets better and better and you really start to realize what is important in life although it sounds like you already have that figured out :)

    I’m 27.

    You’re old.
