Well, I’ve got the tail part down.
When we went to get Swee’Pea and TheMonk’s first haircut, the hairdresser put Swee’Pea’s hair in a tiny pony tail on the top of her head. It looked so cute. It looked so easy.
So how come whenever I do it, she looks more like a sumo wrestler than a sweet little girl?
I’m a gamer though. I’m going to get it. I’m even toying with the idea of doing TWO ponytails on her cute little head. Only, I just know she’s gonna look like Satan’s love child.
I’m gonna get it though. Really. I am.
Really.

Two ponytail secrets from a seasoned pro. (No, I am not a hair dresser, I have an 8 year old girl.) First off, buy “no pull” ponytail holders. They are at Walgreens or Target. They are clear or black plastic and they come in small bags. They won’t slip out of her hair, but they won’t pull her when you take them out or The Monk tests their strength. Next, be sure to wet her hair, then part it and wrangle it into submission in the pony tail. I can’t wait to see the final product…

Whew! I am so glad Melissa came to your aid. I am no help in that department, but when the time comes to fit TheMONK for a tux, I your gal.

I bought the “ouchless” no-pull ponytail holders in mass quantities for Ane, so I totally back up Melissa. They can snap easily (especially under a daddy’s thumb, we’ve discovered), but that’s why there are so many in a package.
When Ane had two ponytails at this age, we used to call them her “antennae.”

Yes, use ouchless “hair pretties” as they are called around K’s house (something like $2 for 100 at WalMart/Target). And always wet her hair first.
And you may have MORE luck with 2 little ponytails on top of her head than just the one. Something about that baby fine hair makes two easier than one that actually looks good.

This is great! It reminds me of being a little girl, when my dad would attempt to do my and my sister’s hair. Just couldn’t do it the way mom could!
Love the sumo wrestler analogy!!
