Return of Kitty (and how I need to do my laundry more often)

Just as some of you predicted this past week, when I posted about how Swee’Pea had lost her kitty and how I found her replacement on eBay, the prodigal kitty has returned.

I was, I admit, a bit surprised that we found Kitty 1.0. After all, we turned this house upside down. I was so serious about finding that cat that I even cleaned under the coffee table. And while I did find some candy from Easter, I did not find a kitty.

The one thing I had put off, however, was laundry. I am not a big fan of doing laundry. I have about 30 pairs of underwear and enough dress shirts and slacks to make it easy to put off doing laundry for a very… long… time. This weekend, however, I realized I was down to the emergency underwear. You know, the ones that the elastic is starting to go and the cotton is getting fairly thin in certain areas. It was time.

So, in between plays of the Green Bay vs. Tennessee Football game, I sorted my clothes. As I was separating my whites from my lights, I felt something heavier than usual bundled up In one of my dress shirts. I shook the shirt and out flung one multi-colored kitty.

Luckily, Swee’Pea is currently unaware that Kitty 1.0 has returned. I think Kitty’ll sit safely tucked away until she is needed some day in the future. If nothing else, I have at least saved the original for posterity’s sake.

Okay, if you’ll excuse me, I have to go fold some clothes now. That underwear won’t put itself away.

  1. I lost my glasses last week. Thought for sure they were gone and would have to be replaced. Found them in the laundry. I guess I was preoccupied.
We bought a replacement “puppy” for Logan from Amazon as soon as it became evident that it was a requirement for him to sleep/calm down. In fact, due to it’s extreme use, I’ve gone so far as to buy v2.1 and 2.2. I had to throw v1.1 and v1.2 out. He knew what went down and seems to get the process. Thank goodness.

  3. I hate to admit how many times this has happened to us before too. We even check the heaping piles of laundry when things are missing and still can’t find them. Until I finally get off my butt and actually start washing the stuff. But laundry has always been kind of mysterious. Still don’t know where the pairs to some of my socks are.

  4. Theories as to how it unfolded? Was some little kid playing “bedtime for kitty” in her papa’s laundry basket? Or did you pick kitty up while sleepwalking and put him/her away for “safekeeping” in your sleep?

  5. You know, the Webmaster decided to marry me when I started doing his laundry while we were dating. You couldn’t walk through his room because of the piles, it had gotten so bad. One of his roommates actually thanked me profusely and probably harbored fantasies of marrying me himself (his wife refuses to iron). Aside from the occasional load of diapers, I don’t think the Webmaster has done a load of laundry in nine years. He lives a good life.

Congrats on finding Kitty 1.0! Keep it hidden and handy. Like digital photos, it is always smart to have a backup.

  7. Welcome back, Kitty 1.0!

You must have a huge closet and dresser for all those clothes. We don’t have room for that. Wow!

  9. You’ll always find what’s lost in the laundry :) Especially if you do laundry like me, and apparently you do.
