Having Fun
We were blessed with a warm winter day today. Low 70′s without a cloud in the sky. I had promised the kids we’d go get their haircut today and they made sure they reminded me each and every day for the past week. It wasn’t so much they wanted their haircut, they just wanted the lollipop that comes at the end.
Afterwards, we headed across the outdoor mall and dined at Hot Dog on a Stick. After wolfing down our food and lemondade, I wiped up some ketchup-smeared faces and we headed over to the oudoor fountain. This was the highlight of the day and the kids were so excited to run free through the fountain. I had packed an extra shirt for each along with a towel but that was it. I asked them not to get drenched. “Just run around the water shoots, okay?” I implored. “Okay, Daddy.” They dutifully replied.
Apparently my definition of “drenched” and their definition are not one and the same. Oh well. We survived and it was really nice to sit in the warmth of the sunlight and watch Swee’Pea and TheMonk squeal with laughter. Something that hasn’t been heard in spades lately.
It felt good.

Funny, but Nat just walked by me and looked at the pictures. Mommy, one day can we wear shorts again too, was her question. Gotta love Denver. High today is 54. Which, surprisingly we all consider pretty warm.
Don’t get drenched. You’re funny. They look like drowned rats. But they do look like they had a great time.

I’ve been reading your blog for months now. I’ve never left a message, but I am so happy to read today that sunshine and laughter was had by all today! Whatever you are going through…may those happy moments continue to surprise and comfort you.

Look how fun!! Today was a nice day, although we are much colder here. I am so glad they were laughing and you all had a good day together. You are so amazing.

also? my kids love getting haircuts. i only recently figured out that it was for the lollipop finish.

I couldn’t imagine their version of drenched…or wearing shorts right now. We’re having a heatwave, too. It got up to 28. California sounds lovely.

Yeah, kids never understand the adult’s definition of “drenched” do they? LoL
I would love that weather. It was a high of 26 here in Chicago. I took the kids through the carwash in the van. They loved it. WooT! LoL

Low 70s and you call that winter? Seriously? After a January when the average temperature was about 2, 25 degrees feels warm here.

Jeez..you just have to rub it in…I’m so tired of trekking through snow….OH MY GOODNESS WHAT I WOULD DO TO BE ABLE TO FEEL 70 DEGREES AGAIN…JEEZ Will WINTER EVER END!!!
