Humble beginnings of a starving artist
In the past month, Swee’Pea has really taken off in her artistic expression. She has gone from scribbles to actually drawing. Real things. That actually look like real stuff.
She dabbles in a number of mediums. Washable paint on paper (which, truth be told, isn’t all that washable off clothing), marker on a paper (along with an occasional marker on face), and good old crayon on paper.
Her latest project really blew me away. She drew her Kitty using crayon and marker (version 2.0 for those of you who remember the story). I have included her stuffed kitty in the photo browser below so you can be in awe at my daughter’s awesomeness. Enjoy.

I am most definitely in awe of your daughter’s awesomeness. Shoot. I know four year olds that can barely scribble… I’m so impressed.
Way to go Swee’Pea! I love your pictures! I think the lion with glasses is my favorite.

To make washable paint even more washable, you can squirt a little dishsoap into the paint. Apparently, it’s an old preschool teacher’s trick. Or, you can do what I do, and stock up on Motsenbocker’s Lift Off formula #3 for paint, ink, and marker (cheapest at Home Depot, found in the paint section).
It’s so cool when their art finally begins to take on shape. Buy the girl an art smock and a beret!

Sun, mountains & loaf of bread is by far her best work.

They are all great. Couldn’t pick a favorite, but love the expressions on the kitty, lion, and heart.

I don’t know the normal artistic talents of three year olds but I must say that she is very very good. The kitty is spot-on!
